Spinach sambhar

Ingredients

  • Spinach – 3 cups chopped
  • Moong dal – 150 grams or 1/4 cup
  • Onions -2
  • Tomatoes -2
  • Green chilli- 1 or 2 depending on ur spice level
  • Turmeric pwd – 1/2 tsp
  • Sambhar pwd – 2 tsp
  • Water- 3 cups
  • Salt as required

For the Tempering

  • Oil-3 tsp
  • Mustard and urad dal- 1 tsp
  • Red chilli – 3
  • Asafoetida- 1/4 tsp

Method

  • In a pressure cooker add the washed dal, chopped spinach,chopped onions, tomatoes, green chilli, turmeric pwd, sambhar pwd and salt. Add 3 cups of water .Stir to combine.
  • Pressure cook for 4 whistles. Once the pressure releases stir and adjust the consistency.
  • Transfer the tempering into the dal . Serve
