
Ingredients
- Banana stem- 2 cups chopped
- Onion-1 finely chopped
- Green chilli- 1 slit
- Turmeric powder- 1/4 tsp
- Curd- 1 tsp
- Salt as required
For Tempering
- Oil- 3 tsp
- Mustard -1/2 tsp
- Urad dal- 1 tsp
- Curry leaves – 2 sprigs
- Asafoetida- 1/4 tsp
To Grind
- Coconut- 1/4 cup (remove the brown part and cut into small pieces )
- Red chilli- 1
- Cumin seeds- 1/2 tsp
Methodn
* Remove the outer layer of the banana stem and use the inner firm layer.
* Wash and cut the banana stem as shown below. Remove the fibre that comes every time you cut the stem.

* Add 1 tsp curd into a bowl of water. Put the chopped banana stem into the bowl to avoid discolouration.
*Heat oil in a pan. Add the tempering ingredients and wait for the mustard to crackle.
* Now add the chopped onions and green chilli and sauté for 2 minutes.
* Add turmeric powder and sauté for 10 seconds.
* Drain and add the chopped banana stem pieces, salt and stir well.
*Add 1/4 cup water and give a stir . Cover with a lid and cook for 15 minutes. Keep stirring every five minutes.
* Meanwhile in a blender add the coconut, red chilli and cumin seeds and grind it without adding water.
* Once it is cooked add the ground coconut and stir well. Let it cook on sim for 3 minutes.
* Turn off gas. Serve
