Palak Chicken Curry

Ingredients

  • Chicken- 500 grams
  • Palak spinach- 200 grams
  • Onions- 2
  • Tomatoes- 2
  • Ginger garlic paste – 1.5 tsp
  • Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
  • Chilli powder- 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder- 2 tsp
  • Green chilli- 1
  • Coconut – 1/4 cup ( chopped into small pieces)
  • Oil- 5-6 tsp
  • Salt as required
  • Water – 500ml

Grind To Paste

  • Take the spinach and wash well. Heat a pan and add the spinach , blanch for 4 minutes. Let it cool.
  • To a blender add the spinach , green chilli and coconut and grind to a smooth paste. Set aside.

Method

  1. Heat oil in a pressure cooker.
  2. Once the oil is hot add the chopped onions and sauté for 3 minutes.
  3. Add ginger garlic paste and sauté for 2 minutes.
  4. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until soft.
  5. Add the spice powders and mix well . After 3-4 minutes add the chicken and sauté for 5 minutes.
  6. Add the ground paste and sauté for 3 minutes.
  7. Add required salt.
  8. Pour in 2 cups or 500ml of water, mix well and pressure cook for 4 whistles.
  9. Switch off the gas and let the pressure release . Check the taste and add salt if required .
